About assiter auctions

Darla Carthel, Vice President of Central Operations

Darla joined the auction firm in 1983, utilizing her background in IS to develop and maintain the company's end-to-end auction software solution. She became a full-time employee in 1995, performing accounting functions and providing assistance with pre-auction and auction requirements including marketing, accounting, registration, clerking, buyer payout, and advertising. She was promoted to Vice President of Central Operations in 1999, overseeing the daily operations of Assiter Auctioneers.

Darla held the position of Instructor of Computer Information Systems and Mathematics at Eastern New Mexico University and Mathematics at Amarillo College. After leaving the teaching profession, she was employed by Mason & Hanger, Pantex Plant, a subcontractor to the United States Government, as a Systems and Procedures Analyst.  Darla designed and implemented computer and software quality assurance procedures, maintained the budget for the Information Management Division, and acted as mediator of a multi-million dollar project between the Pantex Plant and a software engineering company. These responsibilities have given her experience in handling different personality types and appropriately mitigating personality conflicts.

From an education standpoint, Darla has had many milestones including a Master of Arts in Mathematics from Eastern New Mexico University and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a Minor in Computer Information Systems from West Texas A & M University. While attending these universities she received numerous honors, awards, and memberships, including the Murray Mathematics Award for two years, Edna Graham Math Award and member of Alpha Chi, Phi Eta Sigma, Pi Mu Epsilon and Epsilon Delta Pi Honor Societies.

An accomplished artist, Darla established an art business painting wall murals in the Texas panhandle, Louisiana, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Nashville, Tennessee, and distributed other painted fine arts both nationally and internationally.

Darla’s education, software development and artistic background give her the ability to conventionalize the end goal and effectively direct people to achieve that vision. Her mannerisms and caring nature allow her to manage the back office with compassion and leadership. She combines creativity, people skills, and knowledge to provide support where needed to the Assiter Auctioneers Team.
